Trainee Program

Inlet Dance Theatre provides a Trainee Program for individuals who are serious about dancing professionally or preparing to obtain an undergraduate degree in dance.  Prospective Trainees must have completed high school and/or some college course work.  The purpose of the Trainee Program is to prepare the young adult for auditions for professional companies or entrance into a college dance program.  Interested individuals should contact Inlet Dance Theatre via email or by calling the office (see above contact information).

Inlet’s Mission Statement:  To create and perform contemporary dance at a high level of quality, skill and innovation.  To use the art form of dance to bring about personal development in the lives of individuals through training and mentoring.  To speak creatively about life and the issues we all face.

Inlet Dance Theatre’s Trainee Program includes:

  • Three days a week of Hawkins-based release modern technique
  • Two additional technique classes per week designed around Intern specific needs (as determined by the Artistic Director)
  • Rehearsals with Inlet Dance Theatre
  • Training in conducting educational outreach and other dance education programming by Inlet company members and director
  • Performing opportunities
  • Instruction in dance composition, improvisation, nontraditional partnering and other movement styles
  • Personal mission statement development, business administrative and other related skill development
  • Focused, mentoring relationships
  • Christmas (winter) and Spring Breaks

Intern Program Dates:

Sept 6, 2005—June 10, 2006

Cost:

$300 per month

($2,700 total cost)
