Inlet Dance Theatre fosters a year-round educational environment where students of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels come to us for instruction.

Inlet Trainee & Apprentice Program

The fee-based Inlet Trainee & Apprentice Program is for individuals who are serious about dancing professionally or for preparing to obtain an undergraduate degree in dance. The purpose of the program is to prepare young adults for auditions for professional companies or entrance into a college dance program.  Prospective students must have completed high school and/or college course work.

Program includes:

• Three days per week Hawkins-based release modern technique
• Two additional technique classes per week designed around Trainee needs
• Rehearsals with Inlet Dance Theatre
• Education outreach training
• Performance opportunities
• Instruction in dance composition, improvisation, non-traditional partnering and other movement styles
• Personal mission statement development, business administration and other related skill development
• Focused mentoring relationships
• Winter and spring breaks

Inlet Youth Ensemble

The Inlet Youth Ensemble is for committed students ages 12-18 who are considering future instruction in dance or pursuing dance at a post high school level.  The Youth Ensemble offers exclusive instructional time with the Inlet Company Members and Artistic Director.  In addition, the Youth Ensemble is given opportunities for multiple public performances to expand the educational process.

Classes are available for Modern Dance, featuring Hawkins-based technique.  Classical Ballet classes are taught in a contemporary ballet style and include barre, center and movement combinations across the floor.  Hip-Hop classes are fun and upbeat whre the current styles of hip-hop styles and techniques are explored.  Preschool Dance classes guide children through the exploration of music and movement of the body as well as the fundamentals of ballet and modern dance technique.

Summer Dance Intensives

Beginning every June, Inlet Dance Theatre hosts a fee-based modern dance instructional camp for dance students.   SUMMER DANCE INTESIVE is an agressive six-week summer camp for ages 12 though adult and includes curriculum such as hip-hop, modern dance technique, nontraditional partnering, improvisation, composition and performance.   The camp annually culminates with free public performances at Cain Park's Evans Ampitheater in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
